My Pokemon Merch
I’ve been a fan of Pokemon seemingly since it hit American shores. I was at just the right age to get really really into it. I have a lot of merch and toys from around 1999 to 2006. After that point, I became less interested in merch and toys. I think some of this could be interesting to see as a relic of Pokemania. It’s also a story of my own experience as a fan, from being a toy-crazy kid to sort of losing interest in merch altogether to engaging much more selectively with merch.
Many of these items are in storage, so I don't have my own photos. Where photos from others are used, I provide the source underneath.
Polly Pocket Pokemon
I found the Diglett from one of these clamshell houses a few months ago but unfortunately misplaced it in a move. (Who knows, perhaps one day it’ll pop up again!) I also think I had the Oddish one.
Pokemon Sliders
Probably from 1999. These were Pokemon toys with metal balls in them. You could slide them across the floor (assuming you didn’t have carpet) and have them bump into each other. Super cute, and I had a fair amount of these.
Tiger Electronics Pokedex
Probably from 1999. I have so much to say about this one it might get its own page one day. This is the Tiger Electronics Pokedex! Containing information on the 150 original Pokemon. You heard me right - no Mew.
If you're curious to see what this calculator looks like disassembled, I recommend checking out The Calculator Review's page on it.
Pikachu Camera
Probably from 1999. Another one by Tiger Electronics.
The film featured a Pokemon border.
Pokémon Artbox Premier Flipz
I had a few of these. I remember buying them from Walgreens.
Pokémon Topps Trading Cards
These are little informational art cards featuring artwork from the anime.
Scizor Action Figure
Despite really liking gen 2, I don’t actually have much in the way of merch for it. I do have a poseable Scizor action figure. No photo provided as none of the ones I've found look quite like the one I had; I'll have to wait to see if I can take my own photo.
Pokemon 2000 Lugia Coin

These came packaged with the VHS for Pokemon 2000. I find these so charming! They’re made of plastic and the details aren’t great, but I like the design of them.
Pokemon Advanced Kyogre Action Figure
This Kyogre is very nicely made. Pressing the button on its back causes its mouth to open. Apparently it came with an ‘ice beam’ which I almost certainly lost immediately.
Pokemon Center T-Shirt
A t-shirt from the New York City Pokemon Center. A beloved piece of Pokemon merch that I used to wear eagerly. You’ll notice that the Torchic is missing an eye… other versions of this shirt I’ve seen also have that.
Ho-oh Figure
This came if you pre-ordered HeartGold. Ho-oh is one of my favorite Pokemon!
Pokemon Plushes
Falinks Image Source, Porygon Image Source, Magnemite Image Source
I purchased the only post gen4 Pokemon merch I have around 2025 - a Falinks plushie! A loved one also gifted me plushes from the “sitting cuties” collection, featuring Porygon and Magnemite.
